Many egg producers claim their hens are 'cage free' or 'free range', however, due to pressure from the factory farm lobby, cage-free is more often than not just a small door leading to a tiny dirt pen for tens of thousands of hens, which they may never actually see during their lifetimes.  Additionally, US organic standards now allow 83 chemicals to be present in farming products & still qualify as organic!  This is one of the big reasons you hear folks saying: "Local is the new organic.”

Our small flock of laying hens reside on a century old homestead in the Summit-Waller area of Pierce County.  As a result of taking in plenty of fresh air, grass, exercise & free-range proteins, they lay firmer yellowish/orange yokes, which makes them high in Vitamin E, Beta-Carotene, & Omega-3's & much lower in cholesterol (less than half in studies).  Local also results in little to no fossil fuels to get them to your table.  Most importantly, we have greatly minimized or eliminated harmful chemicals, pesticides, anti-biotics & hormones, all of which can impair a hen’s long-term health, and yours!
Eggs are collected twice a day, so they're far fresher than you'd ever find in the supermarket.  ENJOY!

Remember to keep refrigerated, cook until yolks are firm, & cook food containing eggs thoroughly.
